Meal planning
A Better Weekend Camping Menu
Spend less time deciding what to cook and more time enjoying where you are.

Start with your arrival time
Keep the first meal easy. If you arrive near sunset, bring a prepared pasta salad or a simple no-cook lunch that can become dinner. Set up shelter and your cooking area before adding a complicated meal to the evening.
Build around a few shared ingredients
Choose two breakfasts, two lunches, and two dinners. Reuse ingredients with a purpose: cherry tomatoes can go into pasta and salad, while tortillas can serve as wraps or taco shells. Write the quantities beside each meal before shopping.
Give every meal a backup
Weather and plans change. Carry one simple shelf-stable meal that works with your cooking setup, plus a little extra snack food. Pick something your group already enjoys rather than treating a backup as an afterthought.
Make your plan portable
Use the Yeaver meal planner to collect recipes, then download or print the list before leaving service. Mark which ingredients belong in the cooler and which go into your dry-food box.
